Windows on the Universe

Marcello Coradini, Umberto Guidoni, Piergiorgio Picozza. : Paola Antolini

This year sees the 50th anniversary of the launch of Sputnik, the satellite that marked the beginning of the Space Age on 4th October 1957. Half a century after that mission we have now entered a new era: the age of exploration and space science, which includes the most advanced frontiers of knowledge as well as an essential part of our common heritage. Yet, what does European space science represent today? This conference focuses on some current issues and promotes a debate on the meaning of human existence in the Space Age.
