Unity in Diversity
Rediscovering Organic Thinking for a Sustainable Future

Glenn Albrecht, Luisa Maffi, David J. Rapport, Roberto Stucchi

Because of their unparalleled capacity to exploit and modify the environment, human beings are responsible for the profound transformations of the planet that put the sustainability of life on Earth at risk.
How could such a tragic paradox occur? The major reason may be found in the fact that human beings have been gradually losing the awareness that they are part of Nature; they rather consider it as a source to be exploited in order to sustain an unlimited economic growth. The actions which result from this perspective, where man represents the dominant element, are causing the collapse of ecological and social systems worldwide.
Thanks to some examples from Mexico, China, Australia and Italy, this open forum focuses on the need to rediscover organic thought which embodies the principles of “unity in diversity” in order to create a sustainable future for mankind as well as for the rest of the planet.
